Hi! I’m Donnay Torr
I’m a senior editor, writer, and content wrangler based on the Central Coast, NSW. My work draws from 20+ years’ worth of experience in South-African and Australian print, digital, and social media spaces, for consumer, educational, and B2C audiences. I believe in the power of meaningful storytelling to effect positive change.
I’m courageous. Curious. Rather fond of good content: creating, communicating, and consuming it.*
I’ll help you start conversations and connect with communities. Maybe prod the status quo a bit, too.
If you’re looking for someone to help you find words that are ‘just so’, you’ve found her.
(*Good at alliteration, too)

In case I come up at quiz night…
I’m a published poet and short-story writer: my work appears in short-story anthology Ver in die wȇreld (Far in the world, Feb 2023, compiled by publisher and author Frederik de Jager), poetry anthologies Nuwe Stemme 6 (New Voices 6, 2017, compiled by South-African poets Charl-Pierre Naude and Bibi Slippers) and Sterkykers: gedigte vir tieners (Star gazers: poems for teenagers, 2016, compiled by South-African children’s book author Jaco Jacobs). I’m also in several issues of the iconic Saffrican zine Ons Klyntji.
I’ve judged feature-length and short films at the South-African Silwerskerm film festival, lectured on the use of technology in developing YA literature, sported blue hair during a televised panel discussion about the organic growth of language, judged teen beauty AND battle-of-the-bands contests... And almost got eaten by a shark during a practical ‘how to surf’ magazine feature. (Clearly, I go above and beyond.)
The greatest of all these? I’ve met, interviewed and crushed on Bruce Campbell, aka Ash Williams of Evil Dead fame. My work here is done.
